Revolutionary History Re-enactment Showcase
This Independence Day, join local historian Duane Jackson for a Revolutionary History Re-enactment Showcase. Costumed presenters will portray soldiers from the 1st Rhode Island Regiment and 2nd New York Regiment, highlighting pivotal Revolutionary War battles, including the role of pioneering Black soldiers. Village Historian Marc Cheshire will give brief remarks on the military service of Pierre and Philip Van Cortlandt before the re-enactment begins. The presentation will last approximately two hours. The showcase will explore the origin and history of the 1st Rhode Island Regiment, including its involvement in the Battle of Rhode Island and the Battle of Pine Bridge in Yorktown Heights. It will also provide an overview of the Continental Army, the history of the 2nd New York Regiment, and a look at how Revolutionary soldiers lived, what they wore, and how they fought. The event will feature a musket firing demonstration and conclude with an audience Q&A.
